Bar BQ American Grill, el Salvador 5800, Palermo Hollywood

Posted by Cool Your Jets IV on January 17, 2011

Occupying one corner of el Salvador y Angel J. Carranza is this newly opened American Grill.

Owned by the same chap that up until recently ran a very successful Peruvian restaurant is this welcome addition to Palermo Hollywood. Specialising in American fare; think wings, burgers, ribs and good old lemon pie is Bar BQ.

On a not so busy Monday evening this place was filling up nicely so we decided to stop and check it out.

On offer were the baby pork ribs which we ordered along with a bottle of the house white…

On being told that the house white was a tad warm we were offered a complimentary cocktail which for us was a first in Argentina – mostly when we order white wine it’s served at BsAs temperature, with an ice bucket as an afterthought!

The pork ribs were superb!

Now I make these in the UK (I’m a broiler rather than a smoker) and these were superb. The sauce, a mix of dry rub then steamed in their own packets containing honey, Worcester sauce and several other ingredients(!) were superb – the pork fell from the bone and to coin  a phrase ‘…were finger licking good!’

We’ll definitely be going back and we wish the Nico and the crew good luck and thanks you for the great ribs!

Yummy – let’s go again tomorrow!

  5. Just been back this evening and pleased to report that this place is getting busier. This time, I ordered the beef ribs which were fantastic and Shelley went for the the Wings and a portion of Calamari -both were very tasty though in the future we’d go for double portions of wings.

Its the Superbowl this weekend and the owner (think his name is Nico) is willing to put up a big screen for us so heres hoping we can convince the rest of the guys to go here rather than Sugar….
